What is a Digital Support Mentor?

Are you interested in joining the Citizens Advice Bureau's digital revolution?

Working alongside the DIG-IT Coordinators on the DIG-IT project we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can assist the residents of South Derbyshire to get online. 

You don't have to be an IT genius just have a basic knowledge of computers or digital equipment, more importantly we want you to have the passion and enthusiasm to support individuals in gaining confidence to use a computer. 

Training is delivered to small groups of people and individuals free of charge in various locations throughout South Derbyshire.

You will need to be able to volunteer at least 6 hours per week or more.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous knowledge / experience of using IT - this can include computer, tablets, smartphones etc. 
  • To be able to work as part of a team
  • No formal qualifications are required, however a good standard of written and spoken English is essential for this role.
  • Friendly and outgoing
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • An understanding of, and commitment to the aims and principles of the CAB service and its equality and diversity policies to develop links in the community
