Gambling Support Service East Midlands

Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City have begun to roll out the Gambling Support project, a service to help spot the signs of gambling-related harm. The service will offer client support in one of our local offices, while acting as a regional hub for the entire region. Bespoke training and awareness-raising will be delivered across all counties in the East Midlands.

Funded by Gamble Aware, a national organisation that promotes the education and research of gambling, the project aims to:

1) Raise awareness of gambling-related harm. It is an addiction which is underexplored, hidden in society, and most difficult to detect.

2) Offer client support, focussing on short-term intervention strategies.

3) Share information across regional networks, equipping other local Citizens Advice offices, local authorities and other charitable organisations with the tools to identify and support harmful gamblers. ‘Make every conversation count’.

The Gambling Support Service, which takes a public health approach to the problem, will be 1 of 10 across the country funded by a £1.5 million, 2-year partnership with GambleAware.

Gambling can be a sensitive issue that can have long-term effects on anyone, regardless of their age, gender or social background. Whether gambling has negatively impacted your family relationships, employment, mental health, wellbeing or your finances, we are in a great position to help you out with our dedicated team.

The National Gambling HelpLine provides confidential information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling in England, Scotland and Wales.

You can speak with their Advisers over the phone or via live chat every day of the year, from 8am – Midnight.
