About Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City

We are a medium-sized local Charity that provides excellent advice service to a large and diverse population of South Derbyshire and Derby City. We provide services in a variety of locations (including GP practices) and are also based in Church Gresley and in Derby City Centre. We provide telephone and face to face advice services for people who want advice and a wide range of issues.

What are Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City looking for?

We are looking to appoint 3 Associate Trustees to join the 2 Associate Trustees we have already appointed. We are looking for people who although they do not have the time to commit to a Trustee role would like to contribute to the development of our organisation. We are also looking for people who, although they do not have any previous Board experience, would like to develop their corporate skills and experience and may look to a Board position in a few years time. We are specifically looking for young people from all backgrounds with interest in community development and who wish to develop and support the development of new services to expand our advice portfolio.

Practical Considerations

Evening Board Trustee meetings are held approximately every 12 weeks. We also hold subcommittees every 8 weeks, and Associate members are welcome to observe and when required contribute to these meetings. The total time commitment for an Associate Trustee will be based on the candidate’s available time to commit to the organisation. Induction and training are provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable Trustee and staff team. Associate Trustees are not paid, but expenses are covered. A DBS (criminal records check) will be required.
